The school

   Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School is a premier Government High School of Odisha and has played a stellar role in forming the future of many a young person. Thousands of illustrious students from the school have contributed to nation building since its inception during colonial India. They continue to scale greater heights with their ethical and professional excellence in differentfields around the globe.

In the year 1852 CE John Cadenhead , the then Principal Assistant in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner started an Anglo-vernacular school which was made High school in 1864.

In 1952, the school was named after Chandra Sekhar Behera, the renowned Socio-Culture Savant and freedom fighter.

  OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION

During 1966-67 Dr Parsuram Mishra was the President of Chandra Sekhar Behera Zila School Old Boys Association.The Association has been Registered under the Odisha Registration of Societies Act in 1990 bearing the No. 2746-346/1990-91. This was under the active guidance of Dr Rajendra Kishore Panda, IAS, who was posted at Sambalpur as the Revenue Divisional Commissioner at the material time and was the Patron of the Association.During the Celebration of 125th Year of the School in 1992  Dr Shraddhakar Supakar was the Chairman, Gangadhar Padhi was the Working Chairman and Dr Santosh Kumar Dash was the Secretary during this period. The body has been reconstituted on 14th December 2013 with the following office bearers

HISTORY OF CHANDRA SEKHAR BEHERA ZILLA SCHOOL

IN the year 1852, the Anglo-Vernacular School was set up at Sambalpur. It was housed in a building (with stone-and-mud walls and stone-and-lime floor) constructed near the Raja-Palace (Rajabakhri): That site now houses the Lady Lewis Girls' High School. Eventually, out of the Anglo-Vernacular School, the Zilla School emerged in 1864. In the year 1952, the school was renamed as Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School, to commemorate the contributions of a renowned socio-cultural savant and freedom-fighter : Chandra Sekhar Behera (1873–1936). The School moved into its new building in 1954.    Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School, Sambalpur is a government educational institution providing education at the high school level. Subjects taught include the Humanities, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, etc. The main objective of this institution is to disseminate knowledge to the students in different fields. Simultaneously this institution also aims at the overall development of the students' physical, mental and moral capacities. Games and Sports are also an integral part of this institution which inspires the students to be physically fit. There are also many societies and associations related to social service and cultural programmes. N.C.C., Rovers and Rangers (a Scouting organization), Red Crossetc. to build enthusiasm and a feeling of national integration in the students.
